These Terms & Conditions explain how I provide counselling and psychotherapy at Anchoring Therapy. By booking a session (in person or online), you confirm you’ve read and agree to the terms below.

1) Who I Am

Therapist: Sarah-Jane Covell, PGDip Counselling & Psychotherapy, PGDip Psychology, BA Sociology & Social Psychology. Professional Registration: BACP (British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy).

2) What I Offer

I provide integrative psychotherapy for adults, tailored to your needs. Sessions are available in person (North Yorkshire) or online via secure video.

3) Sessions, Fees & Payment

  • Length: 50 minutes per session.
  • Fees: £55 (individuals) / £70 (couples), unless otherwise agreed.
  • Payment: Payment is required in advance to confirm your booking (card/Stripe or bank transfer). Limited reduced-fee places may be available on request.
  • Late arrival: Sessions end at the scheduled time; the full fee applies.

4) Cancellations & Rescheduling

  • Please give at least 24 hours’ notice to cancel or reschedule, otherwise the full fee is payable.
  • Genuine emergencies are considered at my discretion.

5) Confidentiality & Its Limits

What you share in therapy is confidential. Exceptions apply if: there is serious risk of harm to you or others; there is risk to a child/vulnerable adult; or disclosure is required by law/court order. I may discuss aspects of our work in regular clinical supervision; your identity is protected.

6) Records & Data Protection (GDPR)

  • I keep brief session notes stored securely (encrypted/password-protected or locked storage).
  • Records are retained for 7 years after therapy ends, then securely destroyed.
  • You have rights to access, rectify, or request deletion of your data (where legally possible). See my Privacy Policy for details.

7) Online Therapy

  • Sessions are conducted via a secure video platform. Please ensure a private, quiet space and a stable internet connection.
  • If technical issues prevent a session from proceeding, we will reschedule at no extra charge.

8) Emergencies & Crisis Support

I do not provide an emergency service. If you are in crisis or at risk of harm, contact your GP, call NHS 111, Samaritans on 116 123 (24/7), text SHOUT to 85258, or call 999 for immediate help.

9) Professional Standards & Boundaries

I work under the BACP Ethical Framework. Our relationship is professional and will remain within therapeutic boundaries. To protect your privacy, I do not connect with clients via personal social media.

10) Complaints

If you have concerns, please raise them with me so we can address them together. You may also contact BACP if needed.

11) Changes to These Terms

These Terms may be updated from time to time. Any material changes will be highlighted here. Continuing to book sessions indicates acceptance of the current Terms.
