About Me – Integrative Counsellor in North Yorkshire

As an integrative counsellor in North Yorkshire. I offer online and face-to-face therapy for adults navigating life changes, loss, and relationship challenges. My path into private practice developed through years of counselling in community charities, supporting people experiencing grief, trauma, and isolation. These experiences strengthened my compassion, adaptability, and understanding of how people heal through connection.

My postgraduate research on the emotional and relational experiences of adult children from blended families deepened my insight into family systems. This is especially true around roles, boundaries, and attachment. This continues to shape my work with clients experiencing family changes: parental separation, stepfamily tensions, and the lasting influence of childhood dynamics.

A Little More About Me

Outside of therapy, I find calm and inspiration in nature — especially by the water. The rhythm of the sea, the quiet stillness of a canal, or the gentle movement of trees. Remind me of what I aim to offer in the therapy room: a steady, nurturing space where reflection and growth can happen side by side.

I’m a proud Yorkshire woman, deeply rooted in the landscape and people who shaped me. Like many, I’ve experienced my share of transitions — loss, renewal, and rediscovery. These experiences don’t define me, but they do inform the compassion, warmth, and authenticity I bring to my work as a therapist.

My Background

Before training as a psychotherapist, I spent many years in community and customer-facing roles. Drawn to people’s stories and what connects us. My academic journey began with a degree in Sociology and Social Psychology, which sparked my fascination with how we understand ourselves and others. Later, I completed a Postgraduate Diploma in Psychology and then a Postgraduate Diploma in Counselling and Psychotherapy. Where I trained integratively, drawing from a range of approaches to meet each client’s unique needs.

The decision to become a therapist didn’t arrive early in life — it arrived at the right time. After years of supporting others informally, I wanted to bring knowledge, structure, and strong ethical grounding to that work. Now, therapy feels both a calling and a continuous journey of growth, much like the people I work alongside.

I’m a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and follow their Ethical Framework to ensure safe and professional practice.
